I’m an economist, data analyst, consultant, urbanist and all-around transportation wonk based in Boston, MA. Professionally, in collaboration with my coworkers at EDR Group, I use economics to understand transportation issues and assess how investments and policies affect regional economies.
I’m a year-round bicycle commuter and very amateur triathlete – this doesn’t have priority over other commitments anymore unfortunately. In general, I love having four seasons, but biking would be a lot nicer if Boston’s weather was more predictable.
I love traveling. Visiting other places around the country, and globally, is a great way to learn about differences in transportation and spatial development. One of the next best options is reading about others experiences and learning from them – so I try to stay on top of things that way too. I speak a bit of Spanish, Chinese and German.
Transportation
Transportation is work for me, and it keeps me busy outside of the office too. I’m lucky to have found a job that largely aligns with what I find important in life. The importance of these issues for me makes it so much easier to do great work.
Almost everything people do is affected by how transportation systems can connect them to each other and the things that they want to do. I’m sharing my thoughts about issues important to me on my transportation economics blog.
It’s an amazingly exciting time to be in this industry as we adapt to new transportation trends in the US, with many of them driven by emerging technologies. For me, these innovations are still fundamentally about addressing issues of how people connect. Those connections are how we create socially and economically vibrant places. Along the way we need to be thinking about how to build a more sustainable future as well.

I’m a senior analyst with EDRG.
I’m deputy chair for sponsorships of YPT Boston.
I’m an Advocacy Committee member and Street Ambassador.
Places
My other passion besides transportation is seeing the world. For me this means all kinds of things:
- wandering around my neighborhood here in Malden, MA (outside Boston) to find the Mediterranean corner shop that doesn’t show up on maps,
- biking the trails of the Fells or some conservation land in Lexington,
- hiking or camping in the White Mountains, or
- spending weeks or months abroad exploring how similar and different places are.
Check out my blogs about places – those I’ve visited, those I want to, or those I’ve studied.
Connect
I’d love to hear from you!
I’m always interested in connecting with others – whether you’d like to discuss my past transportation work and maybe what we could do for you, want to learn more about starting a career in transportation consulting, have great travel stories to share, or anything else.
To get in touch, email me through the form on the right, or reach out on Twitter (where I’m probably too active for my own good) or through LinkedIn.
